Thank you Simi for sharing. Yeah, love the ‘brain hurt’ concept . I agree from a practical standpoint. This reminds me of my days debating the right actions/ ethics in healthcare. Look forward to reading more from your Worlds .

Glad I stumbled upon this thought experiment. I very much enjoyed reading it and finding my original answer shift as I considered other possible answers. I would say there is no one true answer. It's subjective. The answer a person comes up with also varies with how they define the elements of the question - as with the ship, are we defining it physically or by its relevance or by its story? I grew up Catholic, became Muslim at age 17 and left my Muslim faith for agnosticism at age 40. I wore the hijab for about 15 years of my life and don't wear it now. My political views changed from a place of being apolitical, to 'searching', to very much on the left of politics. I went from belonging to a political party to being uncertain how I would vote if there was an election tomorrow. I said to a friend the other day, 'I've been writing this novel for so long that I'm not even the same person I was when I started writing it.' And despite that, if you asked me if I am, essentially the same person throughout life, I'd say 'yes, of course'. It feels like I've grown, but I'm still me. I think most people who know me well would agree.
