Between Worlds: Notes from the crossroads.
A free fortnightly newsletter for deep thinkers and diverse readers.
It’s taken me six months to write my first post. Yes, new beginnings are hard for everyone, but I think I’ve dragged the fear out a tad longer than I needed to. During that time I’ve written multiple drafts of my debut novel, begun to query literary agents, found my tribe on Bookstagram and carried out my first interviews.
I’m a teacher, writer, and educational consultant based in London, England. I’ve worked in the world of philosophy, wellbeing and diversity education for over 20 years. As well as being a complete book nerd, and teaching English from time to time, I’m very active on Bookstagram. I’m also a debut novelist, currently querying literary agents as I work on my second manuscript.
As you can tell, words are my passion and writing has given me my voice! I’ve always been intrigued by the gap between how we see ourselves and how the world perceives us. That awkward, messy place that lies between the stories we tell and who we really are.
I write from the crossroads between identity, culture, expectation and dreams where I lean into the tensions and contradictions which make us human. You’ll find philosophical reflections on books, thought-provoking essays on society and curated recommendations to help you think more deeply about our world.
Whether you’re a reader, a writer or someone navigating their own crossroads, you’ll find something here that speaks to your heart.
There are two newsletters each month, one exclusively for subscribers and one public post.
In the subscriber-only newsletter you’ll find four recommendations or insights: a question I’ve been THINKING about, a review of a book I’m READING, an update on my WRITING journey, and a thought-provoking suggestion for something to WATCH. You’ll find an example if you scroll down to the end.
In the longer, public post, you’ll find thoughtful essays and interviews that will inspire you (like this Five life-changing quotes that fuelled my writing journey) or push you to question and reflect (like this Exploring the Ethics of AI - Klara and the Sun and this Mental Health Champion - An Interview)
As a thank you for signing-up, you’ll receive my 23-page printable Reading Journal.
